Writing The Rules Of Race And Privilege

No matter where we live, racism and racial profiling are a major problem in America. If you don’t believe me, just visit the Museum of Tolerance in New York or Los Angeles. Once you leave the facility, you’ll understand that hate and prejudice are everywhere, even when we’d like to believe otherwise. If that isn’t enough to wake you up, consider the big news stories that rocked our nation in recent years, including the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and others. Sometimes, if you’re very lucky, you get the chance to work with people who are not only very talented, but who are also extremely kind, generous people. Since moving to Massachusetts, I’ve worked with two such talents: Scott Reiniche and Neal White. They both are awesome on-air personalities and production gurus, but they are also two very real, down-to-earth guys, and they made coming to work each day a pleasure. Embrace The Things That Make You Happy

What speaks to you? For me, sometimes it is quirky little things like the bumper magnet above. My wife and I recently traveled to Portland, Maine on vacation and I encountered this slogan in Cool As A Moose, a fun little store on Fore Street. Being a big dog lover, it was one of those impulse buys that I just had to snag because it made me laugh. My wife just looked at me as though I had lost my mind because I normally don’t go in for bumper stickers and the like, but this one just made me happy.
