Sometimes, if you’re very lucky, you get the chance to work with people who are not only very talented, but who are also extremely kind, generous people. Since moving to Massachusetts, I’ve worked with two such talents: Scott Reiniche and Neal White. They both are awesome on-air personalities and production gurus, but they are also two very real, down-to-earth guys, and they made coming to work each day a pleasure. Now, however, they’re moving on to try new dreams on for size.
They both took new jobs at different companies in the same week, so their departure has turned our station on its head. Scott is off to work on Today’s Easy 99.1 FM in Plymouth, Massachusetts and Neal is now on 95.7 WZID FM in Manchester, New Hampshire. As they both told me, they’d been with our stations, WBSM 1420 AM and FUN 107 FM on the South Coast for a couple of decades, give or take a few years. So moving on to new markets is a leap of faith for both of them, and I couldn’t be prouder of them for taking a chance and trying something new. After all, truly living life is all about taking new adventures.
Oprah Winfrey once said, “the biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” Because I’ve always been the kind of person who pushed his friends toward new heights and to discover their possibilities, I was so pleased that these guys didn’t rest on their laurels but decided to reinvent themselves, to become radiant, renewed versions of themselves with each evolutionary step.
Scott and Neal both took jobs on bigger stations, so now they will get the chance to have an even bigger platform on which to entertain, educate and inspire their listeners. “Progress is impossible without change,” playwright George Bernard Shaw said,” and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” Well it seems like both men are going to make this their shining hour, their next great adventure. “And life should be full of adventures” (Herbie Hancock).
Here is Scott’s final sign off on Fun 107.
Now check out the video below that our resident comic, Larry Soares, created to play at the going away party for these two!
