November is here and autumn has finally arrived in Texas. For a while now, I have wondered if we would ever see the trees change color or the temperatures drop. I lived here before, years ago, but apparently I’d forgotten just how long summer lasts in Dallas. Life in New England spoiled me with its bounty of fall foliage, and I find that I really miss it now, not to mention life by the sea. Thankfully, I stay much too busy to dwell on things I miss since I’m too focused on what is yet to come. Read more of this post

Hi Everyone,

My September started today with a little help from a bug. My wife and I moved into our new place over the weekend after months of living in hotels, something I don’t mind doing if I have to, but which can quickly get old. Hotel living can also leave you utterly exhausted. Think noisy guests that never sleep, unruly children that think it is fun to body slam connecting walls, and barking dogs that must have spotted a squirrel outside the window. So yes, we weren’t getting really good rest, and we’re still catching up. But back to the bug.  Read more of this post

Hi Everyone,

The long, lazy days of summer are in full swing, especially here in Texas where temperatures in Dallas/Fort Worth have reached 108 degrees in some places, and taking a walk is the equivalent of swimming underwater without a snorkel, the air is so thick with humidity. Even so, every time August rolls around, I can’t help but feel as though the magic of summer has slowly started to wane.
