About

Jathan worked in the financial sector for over a decade before he attended the University of Cincinnati to study Journalism and Creative Writing. While there, he wrote news articles and entertainment features for the school’s independent newspaper, The News Record. He also reported for the campus’ broadcast news show, Uptown, and served as the editor-in-chief and co-creator of Verge Magazine.

But it was his work for Bearcast Radio that won him the 2007 Specialty DJ of the Year award for three shows he produced and hosted: Jathan, a morning talk show which featured interviews with novelists, doctors, musicians, philanthropists, and more; Jade After Dark, which featured the sultry side of R&B and jazz; and Smooth Jazz Monday Morning.

During his college years Jathan served as Creative Director for District A, interned at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati and WCPO-TV where he worked closely with Emmy-award winning investigative reporter Hagit Limor.

In 2009, the Cambridge Who’s Who recognized Jathan’s work as both an entrepreneur and philanthropist. In 2010, he received the Magazine Track Graduate of the Year award from the University of Cincinnati’s journalism program.

Now Jathan is the Digital Managing Editor for Townsquare Media. He also owns and operates Jadeworks Entertainment and is developing his own non-profit organization, DreamMakers.

Despite his strong work ethic, however, he is happiest when his home resonates with smooth music, great food, and the laughter of good friends.

A California native, Jathan has lived in West Virginia, Arkansas, Texas and New York. He currently resides with his wife in Ohio.
